If the state declares marriage to be one man and one woman, they fly in the face of homosexuals everywhere and sound to be on the side of church. However, if they declare same-sex marriages to be sanctioned they fly in the face of churches all over the place and sound to be aggressively anti-bible. Society is allowing them no middle ground here either. They must go one way or the other. The state is now deciding on a VERY biblical concept. Regardless of their response, exactly how can state and church be any more married than that?
