The translation of the German Title is: "on the other side" whoever thought "The Edge of Heaven" was more appropriate must have been deeply into North American Marketing. Heaven has nothing to do with this movie. It is all about "the other side". The most refreshing thing about this movie is that it makes you think, it does not explain human nature to you. Great casting, interesting script, the story will stay with you for awhile. And you will also understand why Turkey is not part of the European Union as yet.

This movie's themes, pace, thoughtfulness make it a very worthwhile experience. It examines both personal and societal issues in a thought-provoking way. Some people may quibble with particular aspects of it, but it is a piece of art with a message on several different levels. Really good.

Best movie I saw in years! Thankfully a far cry from most Hollywood drone - a realistic drama acted superbly with characters easing from English into German and Turkish to communicate universal, human ideals and emotions. The bonds and events which bring them together and intertwine their faiths take on unpredictable turns and keep the viewer breathless from the start to finish. There are no protagonists in this story except fate itself. Everyone is a victim and a hero because once again, we see that forgiveness, self-redemption and pure love are the ultimate in human values. This is a must see movie and I hope it keeps on playing longer so I can bring out of town friends to watch it in September.

An excellent story, and more than well presented. Although confronted with a series of traumatic events, the characters are not even close to tragic. A must!

Saw this movie four times! It has a rich plot with layers and layers of throught provoking themes about love, forgiveness, redemption. I was riveted throughout the entire length of the story which unfolds in a very unexpected way and the ending, although implied, respects the viewer's intelligence and leaves him/her to figure it out for himself. Acting is superb!

I know- it looks boring but you have to see it. It’s on a different league from the trashy Hollywood movies that you will run to see because some famous actor is playing in it. And don’t worry; some of the scenes are in English. The only thing I didn’t get is- how the name of the movie is related To the story.

You care so much about each character, even if you do not agree with them. A lovely, hypnotic film with great acting. We all sat in the theater, watching the credits, not wanting to believe it was over.

Good film but not great. What was missing in my view was a goal, a main stream story line, it's just not there. It is well acted but the music is somewhat unappetising. The moral of it all is important but a 5-minute fable could have rendered the same message. At best, a rental.
