I dont see why everyone HATED this movie... I found myself intrigued and scared and curious for the full 90 min... even when I find out what is causing all this I am NOT disappointed... I enjoyed it and people should just have a more open mind... we are ruining nature and the planet people... this is wake-up call # 5439... thats all M. Shyamalan wanted to do give us another wake-up call...

I am a huge M. Night Shaymalan fan but this movie was horrible. I can forgive him for the self-indulgent experiment that was Lady In The Water (which had a strange way of being endearing) but The Happening is just rubbish. The only remote positive is that the concept is good. But the execution is very poor. And the acting!! I could not imagine it being any worse! Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel were so wacky and wooden - completely unbelievable. My wife kept looking over at me asking "What's wrong with them?". All I could do was shrug and say "I think that's just the way they are."

M. Night Shaymalan I want that hour and a half of my life back. Shaymalan should stick to writing movie trailers because that seems to be the only good thing about his movies and the trailer is more entertaining. This is his biggest stinker since Signs. I am so glad I didn't spend a cent to see it. I know now that I will NEVER sit thru one of his movies again. And the worst thing is the idiot probably thinks hes clever when writing a script. Who the hell is financing his trashy projects... go do Broadway you HACK!

The DVD box advertised one hour of extra fotage-well there was about one minute of extra footage-and it was nothing very interesting- running at less than 90 minutes and having stilted dialogue-it is not really a very good film-lots of hype around this director-and I find none of it justifiable-his work is not great.

Not a bad movie, but not the best either. This is either a hate it, or love it type of movie. I found myself intredged by the concept of the film. 7 out of 10 stars.

One of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. Saw the DVD because the trailer looked interesting, but the movie was a complete waste of my time and money. The acting was terrible, the story line was flawed and the directing was one of the worst.

At first, I was intrigued by the plot but unfortunately much of the important factors in this film were overlooked like directing, acting and of course the storyline itself. Somehow the ending did not make much sense to me. The idea for the film was fantastic but was not well executed. How disappointing!

This movie blows , it makes absolutely no sense, Marky Mark has really let me down lately in the film department and this movie (along with "max pane") is the proof. I won't waste any more time on it.

This movie was awful. Cheesy acting, cheesy storyline, and cheesy ending. I would never have expected this from M. Night Shyamalan. Very disappointed. Do not pay to watch this movie. It's not even worth the rental price.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This was pretty rough. I watched the DVD because the trailer had me a little curious but the reviews stopped me from seeing it in theatre. Good move on my part and thanks for this site! Weak writing (the dialogue could have been written by a 6th grader), weak plot (enviro-morals), weak acting (Wahlberg's wife was incredibly annoying), weak music/soundstage. The one redeeming quality is that the overall feel of the movie is a lot like a nightmare where the series of events don't really make sense. Particularly where the people run away from the wind because it has the "toxins" in it. Naturally Marky Mark's character figures it all out when real scientists can't. But I don't think that was the point. I bet M Night would take this one back if he could. It was probably just meant to be weird and it was but I do not see many people really enjoying this movie. My wife liked it much better than I did.

I don't know what's wrong with Shyamalan because he's usually good, but the movie is filmed like it's an amateur who did it. The acting is AWFUL!! Just horrible... Zooey Deschanel did one the most annoying performances I've seen since in a while. Even Mark Walberg was not at his best... The main idea, and the message the movie wants to send is good and it could have been a good movie because of that message, but the director just didn't make any effort, and it sucks.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I think people are a little harsh on M. Night. He tries to encrouch on a variety of topics and re-invent them. In ths case human relationship with its environment. That being said Wahlberg's acting and watching people committ suicide isn't entertaining.

Starts off OKAY but quickly turns into utter and complete nonesense. Being a giant fan of M. Night Shyamalan, it was an awful and total letdown. The worst feeling I had (or could ever have) while watching this movie was to not care at all what happens to the characters and that's exactly what happened to me. I so just didn't care anymore, I just waited patiently for the end credits. I thought The Day After Tomorrow was dumb for having a scene where they outrun the cold but in this one, outrunning the wind seems even dumber. There is not really a 'reveal' in this one but when you figure out what's going on, it's just totally preposterous rather than deep, profound or even shocking. Even more stupid (and this is something we see from time to time in movies like this) is when the entire fate of humanity appears to be on the brink, and yet the main characters decide to focus 100% of their attention on their failing relationship. UGH! I could understand if they decided to copulate in fear of it being their last few minutes on Earth, but to actually waste time arguing over who squeezes the toothpaste the wrong way is just absurdity to the tenth degree. If I ever find myself on the same crashing plane with the director, I'm going to mention that he still owes me $1.60 towards the breakfast bill we split the week earlier. The only reason I don't give this movie the worst possible rating ever is that Mark Wahlberg's performance is SO BAD that it's actually funny at times. "Could this really be... happening? " OMG!

I think people don't like it because what happens is unexplainable. People need to be able to reason things and this movie blocks that ability. Signs was along the same lines, but they showed the alien, which in my opinion made the movie less exhilarating. The mind has a much better imagination if things aren't shown to them.

A contender for the worst movie of this year. M. Night Shyamalan needs to stop with these unbelievable plot twist movies. You think he would have learned from the depressingly bad "Lady in the Water". Every performance is a bust, every scene is a drag and every minute is like an hour. I wouldn't waste my time or money on "The Happening".

Neat concept for a movie but doesn't deliver. Bad dialogue (people were actually laughing in the theatre at how bad some lines were) Bad acting by Mark Wahlberg. I have to say I sort of wanted the whole cast to get smoked. I couldn't care less about anyone in this story. One of the worst M. Night Shyamalan movies.

I have heard a lot of bad reviews from this movie and I just don't understand them. I thought the story was very creative, where others find the movie to be highly silly and unrealistic (I think most people are just too simple) The movie encouraged me to use my imagination, much like all of Shimalan's (spelling? ) movies. Although it is not my favorite of his movies, this is among the top three! Great comic relief, Wahlberg did a great job! I don't scare easy, and it frightened me, great ending!

The Happening could be called Nothing Happening with the rest of M. Night's film career. I mean, heck, if you need material, do a sequel to the sixth sense, the kid can still see dead people right, even though he's got a drinking problem now, it should be better than this!

This movie was no where near the brilliance of "the sixth sense", but "the happening" always kept me interested, and yes... I was entertained. The acting and delivery of lines could come across as "bad acting" but I believe this was done on purpose, giving it an old school hitchkokian feel. Shyamalan decides to scare us by planting the "what if this could happen? " question in our minds and succeeds by leaving it up to our imaginations to come up with the film's ending.

This movie is made of fail. The Happening was SUCH a bad movie. I didn't even think it was possible that a movie could be THAT bad. The acting... oh god the acting. Their dialog was so incredibly fake and stupid to the point that it was HILARIOUS. Like... the movie was a comedy, not a 'horror.' And it was laced with holes and stuff that just DOESN'T happen because M Night just doesn't do RESEARCH or let his editors edit or something. This is an hour and thirty-one minutes of my life I will never get back.

This movie was awesome. Finally a movie not based on a superhero or sex. The brilliant thing about the movie is how anyone and everyone could think of how the problem of the movie could happen to them. Don't listen to the plot freaks below me. Great movie and you should see it soon!

I don't get all the negative comments surrounding this picture. It is a smart movie, written well, with quiet performances (read: not the typical melodramatic fluff), and a nice ending. Next time you go to see a movie like this, pay attention to the dialogue, study the subtleties presented to you, and stop checking your mobile every five mins. For a text message.

Oh my God! What a mess... I was a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan (6th sense, Unbreakable, The Village) but now after seeing this "Happening" (adding "The Lady In The Water" fiasco), I will be skipping his next movie for sure! It's hard to believe this is the same director who made "The Village"."The Happening" is so weak in acting, so weak in plot, so boring overall - it makes you wonder who really shot this movie... Could M. Night Shyamalan's previous movies be mistakes? Mark Wahlberg is at his worst in here, with no help whatsoever from the cast of supporting actors. The old woman living alone in the forest appears almost interesting but is a far cry from that really. It's just that compared to the rest of the cast, she is really good. It's "War of the Worlds" made into a C-movie. Other than lots of wind special effects and people killing themselves in so many gross ways, this movie has nothing to tell. People running away but without any emotions really. When emotions are shown they seem so fake because of the bad acting... arrgh! What a mess! So M. Night Shyamalan, I am not watching your next movie until it's on TV and I'm too sick to reach for the remote to switch channels. You went from one of my favourites to the bottom of the lot. Good luck with it!
