I would be tempted to say I didn't like the film because I'm not the targeted demographics. But then again, my girlfriend didn't like it either. I won't go into details to spoil the end, but lets just say it was a confusing movie. It wasn't a bit funny, and I fail to see the romance part of it. Recommended as a gift for someone you feel deserves to waste 2 hours.

A magical piece of conversational honesty... wonderful dynamics between Helen and Colin and Helen and Bette... the story is surrounding topics of adoption and wanting to have a baby in your late 30s... it is really a lesson in forgiveness...

AWFUL! They should have casted Linda Hunt as Helen was pitiful both as an actor and director. That script was bad. Such a shame bcuz they had big bucks to make this film. That dialogue is so atrocious. It still lingers in my mind...

Helen was simply awful in this film. It is sooo poorly acted, it is painful to watch. I wanted to walk out but my GF said we should stay. That was a mistake and she had to get ice cream for me... Helen is going to forget this as quickly as we did. It really deserves a FAT ZERO.

This is so bad mere words can not convey how bad it is. Don't waste your time with this minless dribble. Nothing entertaining or interesting at ALL.

This is a trashy film. They should have paid me to watch it... and even then I would have walked out. Helen is not in top form here. She looks like she is struggling but--I think she is just out of her element in this film. The script is lame at best. I would rate it 0 but the scale doesn't go that low...

AWFUL! This is a terrible movie. Helen's performance in this is really bad. She should go back to television because she certainly is wasting her time and talent here. Avoid it especially after eating any food...

Then she found me, then she lost the script and had to improvise. Simply pitiful and painful to watch, even for a minute. Bad, bad, bad.

This is a really awful film. The story is weak, characters are not believable and that dialogue... is even more awful. I think this is the worst film I've seen so far this year. Helen should go back to tv acting.

A complete waste of time. It appeared that everything was about Helen Hunt who by the way also directed it. I like her as an actress but thought this was her worst movie.

I have nothing good to say about this movie. It stinks big time. It is a colossal waste of your time. Oh, yes. The popcorn was good.

This film is a huge disappointment given the all-star cast. I almost walked out but my hubby said it might get better so we stayed. That was a big mistake. Dialogue and acting are poor. It is more like a student-made film and I would grade it an F. A total waste of time. Even a root canal is more enjoyable than this dud.

This is an awful movie. The story is very cliche and it goes nowhere. The dialogue stinks and is not believable. Nobody speaks like that. And why Helen puts this story in a jewish setting is beyond me. She doesn't explore the religious dilemmas and it could have been so much better. Remember Mad About You? I am mad about this trashy film. Save your money as this film is a bomb.

This is not your ordinary Holywood movie... It deals with regular people and real life dilemmas. Helen Hunt does a great job directing, and although I thought she looked too old for the part of a 39 year old, her acting is fabulous as well. Go see it!

Very interesting movie. Loved it. Loved that Helen Hunt does not look retouched and glamorous. The kind of movie that does not live you like WOW, but has more of a lingering effect.

If you are expecting a typical Hollywood movie then you will be very disappointed. If you are expecting a poignant, touching movie with very real characters and very real situations, you will love this movie. For anyone that has experienced any or all of these situations, the very real way in which this movie unfolds will resound in you with truth. Helen Hunt has created a masterpiece that will stay with you for a very long time.

I liked it. The acting is strong and Helen Hunt and Colin Firth really work well together, and the plot is interesting and not at all predictable.

Helen Hunt gives a fantastic performance in her directorial debut, but I think that she should maybe stick to acting... not that this movie is bad, it's not. The film is not structurally put together very good. The whole thing is gonna fall apart at... any moment. I feel like this movie should have gone in for another final cut. There were scenes that felt like they should have been cut or at least shortened. I think the structure of this film is what is making it ultimately not work. I was taken in and out of this film. I shouldn't be able to notice these problems in a great film, so this is were it unfortunately fails for me. I wanted to like this better and it is an alright movie. With a cast like this it should be much better. (C+)

Helen Hunt was strong in this - knowing she directed it as well gave me more of an appreciation for it perhaps. She can pull off the haunted silent suffering like no other. Could see how Bette middler worked at keeping herself from being over the top but still her usual fun. Great story.

Watching this film was like watching the worst of the worst student films at any random film school's mid-term review media show. Every character acted as if no human ever does or would and Hunt's directing was lacking in flow, style, and didn't appear that anyone actually cared to make this film believable, or even good. This was an awful abuse of star power and should be avoided no matter what. Wow. Terribly awful.

I have a lot of respect for Helen Hunt as an actress and a first time director. Try to like the movie but I couldn't! The movie should of went directly in the Hallmark Channel...

Helen Hunt looked older than Bette, who was supposed to be her mother. Whole thing lacked spark and depth. The use of guitar music during the scenes turned me off as well as it distracted from what is going on. Last scene was cheap, cheesy and patronising.

I find it difficult watching Helen Hunt, a very limited actress, in my opinion. Colin Firth is one of my top favourite actors, but there was no spark here. The Jewish religious content was unrealistic on many levels. Too bad. Could have been great.

Lovely story of what it means to be a mother and how women find their paths to motherhood in their own mysterious ways. I really enjoyed the Jewishness" of this movie. I particularly enjoyed Bette Midler who always brings much of herself to every role. Helen Hunt's character was perhaps too tragic-- too sad, too thin, too "old". Colin Firth was adorable as usual. Definitely worth seeing for people who like to "think" about the movies they see.

I saw this film a few months ago and what I remember at best was apart from Bette M. who has really maintained her spunk and age the other 3 characters turned me off as fellow human beings. Colin Firth what happened to you? It gets a 4 for effort, whatever.

In spite of the great cast the movie is pretty boring. Not much of a script, predictable story and just a dash of humour here and there. Even hard core Colin Firth fans will be disappointed.

I really wanted to like this movie. I like all the actors in it, the story was good, even touching. But something's missing, some spark, some credibility. Too bad!

With Helen Hunt, Bette Midler and Colin Firth you've got a wonderful cast. With all the various twists and turns you've got a wonderful, human story. There was a tediousness to the script that bored me and bugged me off and on at intervals throughout this film. Loved the music selections in the sound track.

I waited to see this film from the moment we heard it was being made. The cast all did an exceptional job and Helen really pulled off the trifeca of writer, director and actor.
