In an unspecified North American Little Italy, a spell of love flows through the neighbourhood, borne by the love poetry of a wallpaper hanger named Il Magnifico. While the middle-aged poet himself becomes the target of a local woman's amorous attentions, one of his poems sparks romance between Mike, a cynical writer, and Angelina, an Italian waitress who believes Mike is the author of the poem.
