Louis was a plantation owner who following the death of his wife, saw no reason to live. When the vampire Lestat appears to him and offers to give him eternal life by turning him into a vampire, Louis accepts. Whilst he is being trained as a vampire, it becomes clear that Louis not only struggles to kill humans, but wishes he were human once more, to die.
