This film was never trying to be the scale of a 'masterpiece' or be nominated for an Oscar, yet fully deserves a high praise. Original, a very well thought-through plot (yet simple) and an outstanding play by actors, especially Colin Farrell. A great movie, don't miss it.

Enjoyable from start to finish. Well acted, simple but entertaining story line. The ending while maybe predictable to some was still a bit of a surprise.

Colin Farrell is "Ray" plays a young hitmant who has been sent with his partner Ken (Brendan Gleeson) to hide out in a small Belgian town after a botched job. Ray continually slags the town, while Ken tries to open his eyes to the world & tries to help him cope with decisions he has made. If you are not put off by political correctness, this movie is a pleasant surprise that is chock full of funny moments & a little sorrow as well.

Although the ads highlight several comedic moments, this is a tragedy by definition. Could have been named The Thousand Faces of Colin Farrell - he's really showing his chops. Interesting twist as a would-be hitman saves his victim from committing suicide. Great moment when Ralph Fiennes sticks to his self-imposed rules of morality.

Wow. I didn't really want to see it but am I ever glad I did. Extremely funny and finally Colin Farrell is doing something worthy of being put onto film. Great acting, great script, great everything. If you can, see it at once!

A refreshing, smart, and definiteley non-PC movie which is a lot of it's charm. People who can't follow dialogue will not enjoy it.

Seen this twice, once in Ireland and again in Calgary, and I would watch it over and over again. Brilliant acting with true Irish (Dublin) character.

Can't decide what degree of bad this movie is... This this the second movie I have seen where I should have walked out off, Gangs of New York was the first, still regret not walking out of that one too!

Crassness and Vulgarities put aside, this smart, funny, violent and real dark comedy isn't for the light hearted. Farrell carries the character incredibly well and I would say it's his best performance to date. Brilliant comedic timing. It's balanced. Don't see if you are : a little person (dwarf) and/or Belgian.

I'm a big fan of darker comedy, and was skeptical about this movie's potential before going. I'm not usually impressed by Colin Farrel. What a great surprise! Hilarious script, great characters, well acted, and a few unexpected twists and turns. My bf and I thought it was great, and its definitely the best movie I've seen in theatres for a long time.

I didn't know what this movie would be about, but was pleasantly surprised at the mix of comedy, drama and suspense. A little bit bloody at times, but otherwise fantastic!

Pretty good entertainment, with a decent plot, good acting, and a pronounced lack of idiotic American actors like Tom Cruise, Nicholas Cage, et al. Always interesting to see a movie filmed in a foreign country. Yes, the world outside Hollywood formula stuff does exist. Sure wish the movie people would cut all the commercials and dumb trailers at the start of the movie though. It's such a turnoff that I am staying home with DVDs more and more. Also, can somebody please deep-six that obnoxious milk commercial?

Mostly enjoyable, I found it a bit slow at times and actually nodded off in the middle. I would wait for the dvd.

If you're not interested in an intelligent and funny movie then "In Bruges" is not for you: Though ultimately this is a film about honour, it's filled with often wry and caricatural though pointed observations on a wide range of topics from Americans and Americana (bad) to Spurs football club (somewhere between bad and good) to Canadians (good) I enjoyed it both times at the Queensway!

Black comedy? Who grades this stuff? A dark, black piece with a few light moments. Pretty much a disturbing commentary about violence and those who "indulge"... I'm not a Colin Farrell fan, but he was excellent... in fact all the acting was fantastic. A very moody piece with a lot of graphic violence.

This movie was very well done. I am not a fan of movie genres such as this one, but for a movie like this, it was very good. I might have enjoyed it more had I known how it ended. It has an ending that leaves you wondering what happens to Farrell's character... does he die? Or survive?
