I really felt the cinematography was great and the plot was interesting, kept me hooked, and told in an interesting fashion. On the other hand, there was a lot of long shots about nothing that I honestly didn't understand, and several breaks to show seemingly useless skateboarding footage. I think Gabe Nevins did an amazing job acting in his first feature film. In a completely hetero way, I couldn't keep my eyes off him for very long; he filled the screen excellently.

Are you kidding me? Please do yourself a favor and skip this one. Rent Kids instead. Paranoid park? If your going to make a film that claims to have some semblance of understanding of a particular culture, you might want to take a miss on renaming an iconic skate park like Burnside, especially given the fact that the movie actually takes place in Portland. This movie is a bad look all around. Bad for the actors, bad for skateboarding, bad for Mr Van Sant.

Van Sant has an extraordinary talent for storytelling. The pacing of the film, with the gorgeous slow mo and long shots, work extremely well. The dialogue is genuine. Best that I've heard and similar in style to "Kids". If you're looking for characters to talk a la "Dawson's Creek", then this is not your film. Van Sant's style is near perfect and has definitely progressed from his early experimentations in "Elephant" and "Gerry". A truly memorable and inspiring experience.

A wonderful film that takes you directly in to the world of the main character. Van Sant's work comes through as highly realistic and it is a wonderful gripping story not to be missed.

Bad camera work and lousy soundtrack. Has sociological value, namely living as a teen within a divorced family. As a group, the baby boomer generation didn't fair well as parents. Skip this one.
