Gonzo is a definitive documentary on the life and work of Hunter S. Thompson. The man and his legendary life are so interesting though that it's an account on one of the most bizarre and outspoken journalists the world has ever seen. I've always been... (read more) conscious of Hunter's theme: the death of the American dream. It's what his life was about, uncovering the myth of life in America, the land of the free and then exposing the whole operation for the rotten scam that politicians have been putting on it all these years. So, with this movie I not only got an entertaining collection of the most comprehensive archival footage and inside stories, but a story about America and how far it has fallen from grace. So whether you're a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, or you get your fix on American politics then this movie is a must-see.

A good idea gone awry as the film makers get too caught up on the scenery, that is, the Hunter Thompson persona and the people (mostly parasites) that it attracted. More focus should have been put on his works, which will be an enduring legacy.

Everyone should see this movie. It depicts one of the most incredible people of our time. The book is achingly good and this movie follows its example.
