It was very insightful, but not in the way I expected. It really tells the story years after the last movie and where the series went after they moved from Vancouver to LA. The main message of the movie is "Don't Give Up" where Scully struggles with a dying patient who's only cure is a complicated stem cell procedure. Mulder experiences life in reverse beginning the movie with a beard, shaving it off to represent a more youthful middle stage of life, and finally ending up looking as if he's in the baby stage of life, the way Skinner held him after almost being chopped up by an axe.

As a fan of the first movie and the series I thought this last movie was way off track from the established characters. I thought the writing was cliche and predictable. JUST BAD.

It was okay. It's very good to understand the supernatural and unbelievable about what is out there.

What a stinker. When they said it was going to be a "monster of the week" they lied. The film focuses on themes of religion, child molestation and homosexuality. Not my idea of a fun time. Does not need to be seen on the big screen and if you must see it, you can see it on your TV when it hits the video store. Maybe if the story had been compressed to an hour it might have been passable but as it stands, it's too long, has too many boring scenes, has a weak plot and simply has no spark.

The most provocative movie I've seen all summer. A beautiful relationship piece intertwined with Scully's struggle of faith. Focuses on themes such as redemption, morality, and perseverance in a completely unconventional fashion, allowing the audience to draw their own conclusions. No where near a summer blockbuster, I Want to Believe is an intimate character piece that provokes thought. Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and Billy Connolly give amazing performances.

I am so tired of the negative hype about this movie that I decided to write a review for the first time. It's a perfectly good thriller and classic early style x-files movie- the only difference is that Scully and Mulder are older and have other unfinished business to deal with. I think all the original and probably more mature fans (parents!) will understand the bigger issues at stake for Scully and Mulder- younger audiences are just not seeing what is really important in their lives now. So if the bad press is putting you off ignore it and go and see for yourself. It's a good movie and I hope the third one gets produced to complete the whole story... aliens and all.

I Wanted to Believe that this movie would be great but it turned out very disappointing. No real chemistry between Mulder & Scully or any of the other characters.

A final good bye for the x-files it was like watching a longer episode where fans finally get what they want a much more final way to go out just a great goodbye makes me sad to know they could never come out with a show as thrilling, exciting and unperdictable but the show needed that final farewell.

I am a big x-files fan. I really enjoyed the first film but this one left me extremely disappointed. Let me first off say that I don't expect to see anything about aliens like a lot of people do, what I do expect though is something to make me think, hold my interest and entertain me. This film however did not do any of these. I really think the Mulder/Scully will they/wont they dynamic was missing, their relationship just seemed odd. I felt like I knew everything that was going to happen in the film well before it happened and so in turn it lost my interest. There was nothing unique or special about this film it just felt like someone trying to make quick money off of a great established franchise. Really Too Bad.

It seems like a regular x-files but longer and a little better. Any x-files fans shouldn't miss it.

Just really poor. Mulder has the worst one liners and what is with Amanda Peets character? Just really uninteresting.

I was an avid X-Files fan from day when it first came on the air. There were always bits and pieces of plots that never made any sense. This movie tied up a lot of loose ends that the end of the series failed to do. Man I miss the show but this was the next best thing and is a must see for any fan.

It's a good film but it could have been better for sure. If you go with no expectations you might like the film. I found the scully's part touching, caring and to make a difference, change the way the doctors world in the medical techniques. Strong scenes with child hard to watch which made the story very appealing to me. Not too much action so people might get bored if you don't have a strong mental approach.

Great movie, true to the X-Files genre. I have seen it twice and both times picked up different subplots like a classic X-Files theme. Even if you read all these bad reviews, I believe its really worth a theatre view. Besides, in order to make a 3rd X-Files movie (daeling with aliens and 2012) Chris Carter said this one has to be successful. GO SEE IT!! TRUST ME ITS WORTH IT!!!

A classic X-Files theme that true fans will appreciate. Although it does not deal with aliens, like Chris Cater had stated from the beginning, the timeless model of science versus religion makes up for any alien shortcomings. A great movie that lives up to the title and standards of X-Files.

I wanted to believe, but this movie was terrible. The Frankenstein theme is a farce.

I am a big X-Files fan and really have to say this movie was a disappointment. Did not even have the X-Files flavour. Non-fans would probably have walked out of this movie because of the lame story line.

I am an avid x-file fan and I'm afraid to say that this movie shouldn't have made it into the theatres. I'm not talking lack of sci-fi effects, etc, but just the sure lack of responsibility Chris Carter showed for even putting this out. The story was lame, it would have been a mediocre TV episode at best. When the best part of the movie is when someone is snoring, and the audience is laughing (at the person snoring), because at that precise moment their feeling at least that person has it right, there's something deeply injustice about the whole movie industry!!

It was just like watching an episode of x-files... without the commercials! , it was entertaining, the story was pretty good. I just have one thing that I found weird... they slept together... even had a kid together it seems, but they still call each other Mulder and Scully... bizarre... Anyways... we liked it!

Forget about "I want to believe" I want my money back... come on, after many years this is what we get!! Don't bother paying for this movie, unless our dollars will help fund another TRUE X-Files movie.

I was a die hard X-Files fan back in the day, down to knowing some dialogue by heart I'm almost ashamed to say. But this was simply terrible. The story itself isn't at all engaging. Also you don't care about Scully's hospital story. You also wonder how useless the FBI is... If they were looking so badly for Mulder, did they never look up a Doctor Dana Scully *working under her own name* and living with a fugitive. How easy should it have been to find him honestly? I felt kind of cheated that they put us before an established relationship. You miss the UST that was so characteristic of everything between Mulder and Scully. Overall, not worth the effort.

It was great to see a film that was down to earth, rather than have a lot of special effects everywhere.

Although it had nothing to do with aliens, anyone who has watched the X-files would know that there is more to the X-files than aliens - think about the conflict between Mulder and Scully in terms of their beliefs and you'll realize there is more. I felt it gave good closure to the X-files and the battles that Mulder and Scully have been fighting.

For die-hard fans of the series only. It's like a so-so episode. Don't expect anything like the first x-files movie.

There is NO ALIENS! This is not a spoiler!!! Because anyone that even wants to dare see this crappy movie must know before paying any money that there is NO ALIENS IN THIS MOVIE!!! There's barely any X-files related content either. The only supernatural content in the whole movie is a PSYCHIC! That's it!!! Other than the psychic, everything else in the movie is not supernatural, or aliens, or ghosts, or NOTHING!! This movie is like a really bad AND LONG X-Files episode! See it only if you're a hardcore X-Files fan that has to see every single X-Files episode that exists! Cause if you aren't hardcore, then avoid it!

I'm an X-File fanatic, I've been to the conventions, even talked to David and watched every episode at least 100 times. This Movie has nothing to do with the X-Files there's barely no action, no suspense and the story had this weird obsession about how pedophiles are humans and we shouldn't judge pedophile priest? This movie was bizare and a load of crap. Chris Carter must have been on crack when he thought up this movie. It has nothing to do with the X-Files. It has to do with romance from a Vulcan couple and a pedophile priest...

Very long movie. More a romance than anything else. The plot is actually cool but over complicated and drawn out with the romance stuff. Really lacks any suspense to make the plot exciting.

'The X-Files: I Want to Believe' This film is nothing for old X-file fan's! Included me! Why can't the directors do what they are good at, make an alien film with lot's of effects, and maybe some answers!"X-files the Movie was good" And let other do "normal" films like this! Very disappointed! X-files should be X-files, ufos, aliens and soon, not a bad action movie! It's better to see CSI! Wait until it's on DVD, nothing to see on cinema!

Traditional Storyline, very little suspense, nothing paranormal or extraordinary... probably wouldn't even make a good episode. Worth seeing only because Duchovny is the man and his acting skills help the poor storyline.
