Really enjoyed this touching film. Slow perhaps, but some great films are. Didn't really buy that Mauro's parents wouldn't even check if someone was there before they left, but perhaps they were concerned about being spotted. Definitely worth seeing unless you only like Hollywood blockbusters.
Didn't find this film to be very entertaining; intellectually or otherwise. Yes, there is the backdrop of military rule and the world soccer championship of 1970, but the latter events could have been better portrayed than thru this kid movie; in other words, a better story line to evoke these important historical moments of Brazilian history would have been better. The acting is good yet this one just didn't take off for me. At best, 6½.
