It's so cool! I don't know how they made such a story like this! And by that, I mean how did the crew find out.

Fantastic footage of true events documented and put together with a coherent narrative for all ages. It's as if Tim Allan is sitting somewhere in the theatre commenting alongside you!

It is awesome!!! I liked it a lot!!! It is sad, but I love sad movies. And the chimps are adorable.

This was ok. I didn't really expect too much over a G rating from the current reviews. Amazing how much similar these animals are to humans in their actions. The thing that really caught my eye was how clear the picture was. Amazing what a difference Digital Technology has over the old movie film from not so long ago.

I thought it was a really good movie, but compared to the competition right now, with one or two exceptions, this becomes a great movie because the rest are so stinky! This movie could have just as easily been on National Geographic etc. and you could save a few bucks. Certainly tastefully done and those more sensitive issues are addressed with a young audience in mind.

I have watched movies that were a hundred times better than this. The story was poor, was boring at times and the worst part of the movie was that they hired the most annoying commentator that made jokes that no one laughed at. The good things in the movie was that it showed very good shots of the chimps and was interesting to watch.

This is an amazing film, with beautiful cinematography and riveting scenes of life in the forest. Chimpanzee culture is complex and engaging. The documentary makes the viewer care both about the chimps involved, from little Oscar to his extended family, and the fact that this seemingly exotic environment is fundamentally tied to our lived reality. At times I would have appreciated more scientific context and less cutesy narration from Tim Allen. A must see for all age groups.

This was an awesome documentary!! It was so amazing how you see the beautiful rainforest creatures! How the chimpanzees' feed themselves and live is great to... This is not boring, it's fun to watch.

Very well shot but the commentary was somewhat bland and childish.

Movie was amazing. It was extremely touching. Shows that compassion and love can come from the most least expect place. I highly recommend this movie.

Photography was excellent, but the Disneyfication of a story here with silly silly narration watered this down terribly. For true natural grit I'll stick with the Attenborough franchise... no coy, subvertive animal plots dreamt up by corp execs sipping lattes in The Palisades... but I know this must have been the only gig Tim Allen can fall into right now...

I have to give this movie a 10. The scenery is beautiful, I learned more than I thought I would about chimps, the story was great and touching. Such a wonderful documentary. I recommend this movie to everyone.

I truly enjoyed this movie. It was recommended by my sister. I felt like I was in the African jungle. The people that filmed this movie did a fantastic job, it must have been difficult. It was very educational and well done. I think everyone should see it. Oscar was such a smart chimp. I congratulate the makers of this film. The way I felt after this movie ended, is indescribable. See it!!!

The scenery was spectacular. I certainly learned much about chimpanzees that I did not know before viewing this. I did find the narration inappropriately lighthearted at times, considering the struggles the primates were facing. Many scenes were quite repetitive, particularly the use of tools when finding food, and grooming. The most touching part was the change of expression on Oscar's face, after the loss of his mother. These creatures are clearly able to express emotion, through facial expression. 7.5 would better reflect my feelings about this film.

Great scenery and if you can't afford the trip there, then see the movie. Got to love our ancestors and so glad they stood-up.

I saw this movie bcs I LOVE nature documentaries... this one is very well shot... they got such amazing footage... simply beautiful to see... what I did not enjoy was the "story" they created... I wish they could have told the story though the amazing visuals rather than humanize these wild animals... humans have to relate everything though their eyes and experiences... that being said Tim Allen (whom I am not a fan of) did a great job narrating... worth seeing.

I love this movie!!! I cried my eyes out, and Oscar is sooo cute and adorable. I wish he didn't have to endure that harsh wild! I wonder if he's okay. I wish I could adopt him. He has warm eyes. Must see movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. I agree with those who have stated that the landscape was amazing. I found the narration to be a little over the top so that I had to roll my eyes sometimes. However, it was good for the most part and it would have been enjoyable even without any narration.

All movies/documentaries with animals must be seen!! The images are amazing! It felt like a walk in the jungle. I laugh and I almost cry looking at Oscar, he is so cute! You must see this movie!

A wonderful documentary with a narrated story. The film crew did an amazing job with capturing the "living jungle"; the animals who survive in this often harsh environment, and the loveable Oscar trying to navigate his way in the world. My experience would have been better if I had of watched the film at night, when hopefully, most of the children would be at home. The constant chatter and questions were very distracting/annoying. There seemed to be a lot of very young children at the viewing I attended.

Nothing better than watching nature with animals. Teaching you to be playful and curious about life with a gentle side. Very warm and loving for all to see.

The scenes of Africa were beautiful especially the waterfalls. The story of little Oscar was heart warming to see. Learn quite a bit about what chimpanzees eat and how they interact with others. A must see especially on a big screen.

A monkey could have narrated better than this crap! Movie was great! Amazing shots and everything. Though I felt like it was an insult to dumb this movie down for the viewer. The people who filmed this movie really gave their all but the fake lame story was just utterly horrible!

[It] was fine. Really short with not much of a story, even for a documentary. I really love documentaries on animals, but I find that this was not enough for a movie.

What a fantastic film. A heartwarming story with elements of fear, survival, and a lot of personal drama. The shots for this film are simply superb. I applaud the crew who potentially risked their lives to make this film. And the narration (by Tim Allen) really upped the films quality. The way he told it like a story rather than a 'facts-only' documentary really worked, in my opinion. What a great film!

This is really an excellent and must see movie produced by DisneyNature about chimpanzees in the wilderness and a young one called 'Oscar', not at all tamed as Cheeta, the chimpanzee in Tarzan's movies... Adults and children will surely appreciate "Chimpanzee" that, I must confess, was not easily filmed...
