Arrival

The Arrival is exactly the type of movie for which you can't provide an accurate review without divulging too much information. I would describe The Arrival as an abstract painting with subjective shapes and colours. The movie dragged throughout it's whole lenght. Some may say it was boring. In fact, I don't think there would be any other way to carry the story. I pretty much disliked it taking the audience as stupid, feeding bits of crucial information which should have been invisible subliminal messages (or not being shown at all) instead of Elliott leaving a trail of Skittles in order to attract ET. Again, you may not connect the dots I'm portraying. Now about the painting, the movie abords many subjects such as memory storage being linked to its medium of interpretation, brains being computers with different operating systems, each having different capacities and limits as well as the big WHY and questions about the interpretation of time and the essence of being. It spits a bunch of theories in your face. I enjoyed the fact The Arrival brought these theories in the form of movie. I honestly don't think it could have been delivered in a different manner, and I'm glad the producers didn't try to shove a bunch of military non-sense through my throat. I think a lot of people that have seen (or are yet to see) The Arrival won't even understand what I'm describing. Maybe I'm being too deep. Maybe not. I just wish the ending would have been like an epiphany instead of seeing where the trail leads even before you are supposed to see destination. Kind of like it was obvious mister Gordon-Levitt was Robin the the Dark Knight Rises. I'm just glad I got to see it in theater without anybody making any noise. Enjoy!
