Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame

A literary legend brought to the screen with panache and violence. A another demonstration of the ever increasing role of China in the world. Here, it’s Hollywood which is mimicked with success. Without points of reference on China’s culture and mythology, the story is complex and difficult to follow. Add to that, very detailed majestic scenes and fast paced action also difficult to absorb while reading sub-titles.
