    Ender's Game

A 1/10 ranking (and I do mean RANKing) for the worst Starship Troopers telepathic bug genre movie of the last 3 decades with the remorse of an underdeveloped teenage PS3 gamer as its underlying purpose for existing. New Age Dreck. Ugly can be beautiful, I guess, to those who thought this waste of celluloid has any redeeming merit at all.

Let's see, both movies have alien exoskeleton creatures with telepathic communications (so did "Independence Day" if you want to split hairs) that invaded with the purpose of destroying humans with 'advanced weaponry' all controlled by a "queen" intelligence that human's ultimately defeat. You're lack of the obvious is what is "Weird!!!" The only difference with this waste of time and energy is that it is solely to support the sales of more PS4 games and inflate the self-inflated attitudes of teenage (some not so teenage) gamers who somehow think they have a better grasp of the world's situation. Game Over.

Target audience is everything these days. Adjust your movie going experience, movie choice and viewing perception accordingly. There's an art to watching movies... not just one going to sit and be entertained. One must want to be engaged, but also reciprocate with creative imagination.

Please know that Starship Troopers if anything got the idea of telepathic bugs from Ender's Game. This movie was originally a book that was released in 1985 (where Starship Troopers was released in 1997), and has a lot more detail than what you were able to see from this movie. Not only that this was not a way to get people to buy more video games, it was an adaptation of one of the best Sci-Fi books of its generation. As well, the hate you bring onto the gaming industry (I do not mean gambling, that is not gaming) is jarring. It is an art form in cases, a source of media in others, and helps better humans in the way of reaction time and decision making. [...]

You're going to tell me to adjust MY experience? ART to watching movies? It's the other way around, my friend, movies should BE art, not something one should have to "adjust to". If "one going to sit and be entertained" is an evaluation of the points I bring, then I wouldn't bother to engage in reviews or patiently listening to the drivel that professed "art critics" spew. Your are kind of patronizing, don't you think?

Of course I am. :) You chose how to perceive and interpret the movie... even my response and you probably didn't expect responses when you shared yours. Why spew your rant about the game industry here? Why spend your time comparing to Starship Troopers? This doesn't make what you've said an "engaged review". What makes this movie good / bad? You never answered this... It's unfortunate that you didn't enjoy this movie. As a viewer who never read the book, I enjoyed the movie in whole. A solid 8/10. Character development could have been better with Ender's family and even the Dragon squad. Due to time constraints it's understandable why they couldn't. The "buggers" were pretty well done (even if never featured in full), and the acting from Asa and the rest of the cast was pretty darn good. Watched it twice in theater - and I rarely go twice. If I could change anything it would be the ending... again I haven't read the book (s) but I would've foregone the "happy ending" and left the movie with a "frailty and consequence of war" feeling. Still a good experience, and will be adding this to my bluray collection. As an avid gamer, I will be buying the books to read.
