Peel away all the sentiment and emotion to the movie and the message is clear. If you're disabled or not fully functioning, life is not worth living. Very sad and disappointing. This is NOT the message society needs to hear. And we wonder why so many young people turn to suicide. This film is a reflections of our times. A sad chapter in our history. Some redeeming moments in the film but not worth the watch.

I wish they had a like button, you would have it. Big time I agree with 100 present. I left the movie the same way, in the future it's going to be norm, so sad for the next generation.

My wife TOTALLY agrees! Very well said! Oddly enough the title of the movie gives it away - Me BEFORE you. True love is not selfish like that. People need to understand that TRUE LOVE is acting on what is NOBLE and JUST, not FEELINGS.

The movie was the story of one man. If you look closely Will thought if he couldn't live his life as before he could not live. His family, Luisa, her family and others thought his life was worth living. The message is quite the opposite. Actually he was quite selfish in his decision.

It's not just a disability, a disability usually won't prevent you to do most things you want to do in life. Strip away everything from the story and you actually get a man, who must depend on a nurse, a caretaker, his parents, machines, and hospitals just to have his body (somewhat) function, teaching someone who's stuck; how to live before he goes.

For someone who's most likely able to move, have sex, survive a common cold on their own, wipe your own ass, get out of bed on your own, or just generally have some independence... you sure have a lot of nonsense to say about being quadriplegic.

People won't run to suicide because of the actual message that the movie sends (which is actually: live life while you can and find happiness because death comes for everyone, and not living life, or not being able to live life is horrible) on the contrary, they are more likely to find hope.

For the most part, a lot of disabilities are livable, because you won't be completely helpless... not being able to move or feel anything in your body is a different story. Don't say that assisted suicide, for that case, is selfish or immoral when you yourself don't know what it's like to suffer through not being able to live.

Not everyone has to have the same irrational fear of death... besides I thought that's what most religious people yearned for...
