    Nashville

I had forgotten how enjoyable this Oscar nominated film was. Robert Altman, master of the ensemble movie, put together a film that demonstrated the ambitions, failures, successes and rewards of ordinary or once-ordinary citizenry. I believe he approached actors and said "I'm going to make a film about the Grand Old Opera. Would you like to be in it? There are a couple of 'catches', of course. You won't be the 'Star'. You've got to sing as well. Not only that. You must write the song too! There are many sad and soulful moments in the movie. Just like life. Lily Tomlin, one of the many recognizable entertainment personalities in the cast, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in this, her first film.
