The latest Star Wars entry is Rogue One, a prequel to New Hope, which details the epic Rebel mission to steal the Death Star plans. It features a dazzling climax, highlighted by a certain familiar "Lord" being a badass, but not much else to really win the hearts of loyal fans the way The Force Awakens just did. After all, the majority of the characters are new, and it felt like being sure to check each diversity box was more important here than crafting fully formed, memorable characters. Donnie Yen as a blind pseudo Jedi is about the only new character that really feels at home in the Star Wars universe, the rest are fairly bland. Moderately entertaining, especially in DBOX, but mostly just empty fun.
