Oh Sicario, how I oh so wanted to adore you. You've got everything I like in a story. Nerve-wracking set-pieces. Shady dealings around the US/Mexico border. It's a pity that I found it so hard to actually be invested in you. None of your characters were particularly sympathetic. Del Toro is great as the cool and composed Alejandro and Brolin certainly exudes enthusiasm about the movie he's in. Blunt looks great, but alas, the scriptwriter shorts her character, the protagonist of all people. She's mostly passive, questioning everything that occurs around her without actually doing anything about it. She has an arc, and it's a good one that culminates rather powerfully later in the film. Alas, for me, the journey to get there just didn't feel entirely worth it.
