I do not give a ten to just any movie. 'The Company You Keep' is a masterfully crafted film. The screenplay is brilliant, it is beautifully shot and superbly directed by Robert Redford. It is an ingenious political thriller with all the elements of suspense, family drama and surprise. The performances by Redford, Sarandon and LaBeouf are mesmerizing. This film challenges the status quo and runs contrary to the establishment's pro-war narrative. It must be seen and supported. Zero Dark Thirty, a much lesser film, was lauded by 'critics' and nominated for 5 Oscars because I believe it was towing the establishment line and fit in well with their predominant narrative. The Company You Keep educates the audience about the resistance movement called 'The Weather Underground' that was trying to stop the brutal (and we now know, illegal) Vietnam War. It documents the contentious characters who can really be seen as nothing less than 'heroes' by anyone with a conscience. BRAVO!
