"Streets of Fire" by way of the Japanese hip-hop. Sono's gangland musical is a visual treat from start to finish. It seems ready to burst from the screen in every scene. It's comparable to an all-night party that leaves you blasted from lack of sleep and the consumption of party-favors. The only aspect where it might fall short for some is its seeming fence-sitting when it comes to whether it's skewering the sub-culture or reveling in it. I felt it did a bit of both.
