    True Grit

This is not your run of the mill western but I knew that coming from the Coen brothers. I never saw the original so I can't comment on that. As a western I've seen better but I've never seen a western as funny as this one. The first part of the movie (first 30 minutes or so) is way too slow and I was seriously beginning to wonder what I was doing there but when Jeff Bridges came along it started to be interesting and got better from then on. It was entertaining as a whole but it's neither a true western nor a true comedy. It falls somewhere in between and doesn't excel either way. I'm not sure hardcore western fans would enjoy the Coen brother's eccentric and zany signature.
