Gay Brooklyn couple, Freddy (Silva) and Mo (Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio), ask their best friend Polly (Kristen Wiig) to become their surrogate mother as they want to start a family. The three friends want to make the "big family" idea work, while Freddy works on a new art show featuring him playing an oversized baby. Their lives are disturbed and interrupted by a homeless man known as "the Bishop" who lives in their hipster Brooklyn neighborhood. His appearance sets off consequences that will leave all three lives forever changed and their future unknown.
