In the summer of 1957 in the northeastern region of Algeria, during a particularly deadly ambush, a section of elite paratroopers was tasked with clearing a mountain area that was home to a group of villages suspected of harboring fellaghas. Senegalese second lieutenant Souleymane Fall commanded the section. At nightfall, he discovered in the middle of the bushes a very young girl, Fatima, curled up in a ball and completely stunned, her eyes bulging with fear, beautiful enough to make a saint damn.
