Born blind and deaf in turn-of-the-19th-century France, all hope was lost for the 14-year-old Marie. Refusing to send her to an asylum, Marie's parents find a school for the deaf run by an order of Catholic nuns. The idealistic Sister Marguerite takes a special interest in the girl and vows to help her voice be heard, much to the dismay of her Mother Superior. Based on a true story, this heartwarming film features an astonishing performance by newcomer Ariana Rivoire as the courageous young woman struggling to connect to the world.
